Abstract [eng] Theory and practice of collective bargaining in the EU and Lithuania is analysed in the article basing on the six Clegg’s dimensions of collective bargaining. Performed analysis of several characteristics of collective bargaining allowed to identify one of the main variables determining collective bargaining coverage – the dominant level of collective bargaining in the country. Analysis of the Lithuanian situation showed, that low trade union density and dominant – company – collective bargaining level do not make favourable conditions for the increase of collective bargaining coverage. Increase of trade union density and/or development of collective bargaining at higher than company level would increase bargaining power of social partners and security of bargaining as well as make preconditions to increase scope and degree of control of collective agreements. These developments would increase the role of social dialogue in decision making and establishing employment and working conditions in Lithuania.
