The article analyses Lithuanian labour migration, including processes of emigration and immigration. Through examining the current structure of Lithuanian labour immigration, the paper discusses theoretical assumptions on labour migration (policy and process), and presents theoretical interfaces between labour migration, labour market structure transformation and economic development. Economic, social and demographic characteristics (gender, country of origin, profession and economic activity sector) of labour immigrants working and living in Lithuania are revealed in the context of labour migration theories. |
