The article deals with the changes in prices of Lithuanian chicken and their influence on chicken demand. By researching prices of chicken, it was found that they rose rapidly during the period of 2007-2008. Later these prices declined and increased again in 2010. The wholesale and retail markets had shown similar tendencies. The changes in wholesale prices of chicken affected foreign trade. As prices were increasing, foreign trade declined. When poultry became cheaper, the volume of exports and number of importing countries increased again. The changes in prices of retail prices had no significant effect on consumption. The other market factors affected chicken demand. |
