Abstract [eng] |
The article presents the tendencies of potato prices in Lithuania in 2010 and the factors influenced these changes, such as harvest in Lithuania and other EU countries, foreign trade, prices in neighbour countries. The changes in the amounts of production and sales of potato products in Lithuania were analysed. After a drop in potato prices at the end of 2009, prices increased at the beginning of 2010, but remained the lowest in the last four years. The prices of the 2010 harvest of potatoes were higher than a year ago. Purchase price had been rising faster than retail price and was higher than in 2007. Prices on the marketplaces didn‘t reach the level of 2007, when they were particularly high, while the prices in the supermarkets didn‘t exceed even the level of 2008. However, in early 2011, potatoes were the most expensive for the last five years. |
