The paper deals with the changes in foreign trade of agricultural and food products in 2009. The export of agricultural and food products, as compared to 2008, declined by 10.2% and the import - by 18.6%. The turnover of foreign trade decreased by 10%. The trade balances in 2005-2009 were positive, and in 2009, in comparison with 2008, increased 1.8 times. The largest amounts exported made up dairy products, grain, fruit, waste of the processing industry and animal feedings, preparations of meat and fish, tobacco products; while fruit and nuts, fish and crustaceans, various beverages, meat, vegetables were among the largest amounts imported. The export into the EU countries made up 64% of the total export of agricultural and food products, and the import from these countries accounted for 83% of the total import. Russia, Latvia, United Kingdom, Estonia, Finland were the major countries of Lithuania’s export while the largest amounts imported were from Poland, Netherlands, Ukraine. |
