Abstract [eng] |
The article presents the analysis of purchase and retail prices of vegetables in Lithuania and the results of price comparison with neighbour countries. The changes in foreign trade of vegetables as well as the tendencines of production, prices and sales of vegetable products are analysed. The amounts of vegetables purchased in January-September 2009 were almost the same as in the corresponding period of the previous year, i.e. the maximum quantities during the last five years. The purchase price on average was by nearly 25% lower than in 2008. The prices of basic vegetables were the lowest during the last three-five years. In September 2009 the majority of basic vegetables, except onion, were among the cheapest in comparison with neighbour countries. Only beetroot and cabbage were cheaper in Polish farms, carrots - in Latvian farms. The retail prices of vegetables in Lithuania were among the lowest as well. |
