The article presents the analysis of the purchase and retail prices of potatoes in Lithuania and the comparison of sale prices with neighbour countries. The changes in foreign trade in potatoes as well as the production of potato products, their prices and sale tendencies are analysed. In 2009 the price of potatoes was the lowest during the past four-year period in Lithuania. Because of the abundant harvest, in most EU countries the price of potatoes was lower than in 2008. Although Lithuanian potatoes have a price advantage over Czech, Latvian and Russian prices, usually their price is higher than that of Polish and German potatoes. |
