| Abstract [eng] |
This paper analyzes the impact of demographic change on Lithuanian working-age population in the recent decades. The empirical background of this study is based on demographic statistics from national and international databases. The conducted analysis covers the impact of changes in fertility, mortality, and migration rates on working age population structure. The author of this paper argues that low fertility, high mortality, and extremely high emigration rates have negatyve effects on socio-economic development of Lithuania. Furthermore, demographic policy in Lithuania faces challenges related to a long-lasting population decline. |
