This article analyzes the changes in Lithuanian foreign trade in agricultural and food products in the 1st half-year 2011. Trading results are compared with the export and import of the 1st half-year 2010. Agricultural and food export value in the 1st half-year 2011 amounted to 5310 mill. Lt, and compared with the 2010 corresponding period, an increase of 38 percent. Imports amounted to 4718 mill. Lt and increased by 35 percent. And the foreign trade turnover – almost 1.4 times. Trade balance was positive in the period 2005-2010, the 1st half-year 2011 compared with the corresponding period of 2010, it increased by 241 mill. Lt (1.7 times) to 592 mill. Lt. Share of Lithuanian origin products of the total agricultural and food exports accounted for 63 per cent (3362 million. Lt). Mainly exported of Lithuanian origin products – milk and dairy produce, birds’ eggs, natural honey (23 per cent of total exports of Lithuanian origin products), tobacco (12 per cent), tobacco products (12 per cent.), cereals (9.0 per cent.), preparations of a kind used in animal feeding (8.9 per cent.), fish and crustaceans (8.0 per cent)., meat and edile meat offal (7.4 per cent). 56 per cent agricultural and food exports and 84 per cent imports were the EU countries. Major trading partners (in terms of turnover) – Russia, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Germany. |
