The paper deals with the changes in Lithuania’s foreign trade of agricultural and food products in the 1st half‐year of 2010. Trade results were compared with the export and import of the same period of 2009. The value of export in the 1st half‐year of 2010 amounted to 3841 mill. Lt and increased by 3.4%. The import reached 3443 mill. Lt and went up by 5.3%, whereas the turnover improved by 4.3%. The import was growing more rapidly than the export. The trade balances in 1st half‐year of 2005–2010 were active, in 2010 as compared to 2009 it became less by 48 mill. Lt (12%) and amounted to 398 mill. Lt. The share of Lithuanian origin products accounted for 71% of the total export of agricultural and food products. The largest amounts exported made up dairy products of Lithuanian origin, grain, waste of the processing industry and animal feedings, preparations of meat and fish, tobacco products, meat. The shares of export to and import from EU countries were 62% each. Russia, Latvia, Poland, Germany, Netherlands and Estonia were the main trade partners (by turnover value). |
